Early Childhood Co-ordinator

Libby Lee is a Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood Education at Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia. Her teaching and research interests are focussed on early childhood education. Her areas of special interest include early years curriculum, social justice and the use of technologies to support teaching and learning. Libby’s current research focuses on partnerships between Indigenous communities and schools, in particular the transition from home to school, school engagement and retention, and educational outcomes of young Indigenous children.

Dr Cathie Harrison

Dr Cathie Harrison is a Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood Education at the Australian Catholic University in Sydney. Cathie's research interests include early childhood pedagogy, social justice and giftedness in early childhood. She is the author of the books Giftedness in Early Childhood and Young Gifted Children: Their Search for Complexity and Connection. Cathie has a diverse range of experience within early childhood education as an academic, teacher, advisor to the ABC television program - Play School, and as a consultant to a number of museum and community projects. Her work has been strongly influenced by the early childhood educational experience in Reggio Emilia, Italy and Scandinavia.

Dr Maureen O'Rourke

Dr Maureen O’Rourke is Executive Director of EdPartnerships International and has taught in higher education, pre-school, primary, secondary and specialist schools. She has worked as an educator in Australia and the USA and provided professional learning programs for teachers in the Asia Pacific region. Her research work has been characterised by co-researcher partnerships with teachers, particularly in relation to multiliteracies and use of ICT. More recently, she has focused on an exciting Creative Partnerships program that has linked teachers and students with a range of industry professionals who have facilitated the development deep discipline knowledge and rigor in student performances and texts.

Prof Nicola Yelland

Nicola Yelland is Research Professor of Education in the School of Education, at Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia.  Over the last decade her research has been related to the use of ICT in school and community contexts.  This has involved projects that have investigated the specific learning of students in computer environments as well as a broader consideration of the ways in which new technologies can impact on the pedagogies that teachers use and the curriculum in schools.  Her multidisciplinary research focus has enabled her to work with early childhood, primary and middle school teachers to enhance the ways in which ICT can be incorporated into learning contexts to make them more interesting and motivating for students, so that educational outcomes are improved. Her latest publications are Rethinking learning in Early Childhood Education (OUP) and Rethinking Education with ICT: New directions for effective practices (Sense Publishers). She is the author of Shift to the Future: Rethinking learning with new technologies in education (Routledge, New York).  She is also the author of Early Mathematical Explorations with Carmel Diezmann and Deborah Butler and has edited four books: Gender in Early Childhood (Routledge, UK), Innovations in Practice (NAEYC) Ghosts in the Machine: Women’s voices in Research with Technology (Peter Lang) and Critical Issues in Early Childhood (OUP). Nicola has worked in Australia, the USA, UK and Hong Kong.
